Special holiday events planned

Area residents are invited to kick-off the holiday season by attending a special holiday shopping event on the downtown square in Cassville on Saturday, Dec. 1.

The Cassville Area Chamber of Commerce will hold a $500 Christmas Cassville Cash Giveaway on the square from 3 to 5 p.m. Shoppers who make purchases during the event will be entered into the drawing for 10 $50 Cassville Cash certificates.

Christmas carolers will sign holiday music along Main Street during the shopping promotion. Music will continue as Mayor Bill Shiveley lights the Christmas decorations on the square at 5:30 p.m.

Several other local communities have scheduled special holiday events for the coming weeks.

Exeter Christmas Dinner

The annual Exeter Christmas Dinner will be offered in the Exeter Community Building from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 1.

The dinner will be prepared by Calla Bacon and Cheryl Lee, of C&C Country Store. Meals will cost $5 each.

Christmas Tour of Homes

The Shell Knob Chamber of Commerce will hold its 2012 Christmas Tour of Homes from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Dec. 1. The event will feature six homes and refreshment stop at Remax Lakeside Real Estate.

Tickets for the Christmas Tour of Homes are $10 each and available at the chamber office, Cabin Fever, Farmer's Daughter's Floral and Greenhouse, Arvest Bank, Treasures Then and Now, Neill's Home Store in Shell Knob and Freedom Bank and Commerce Bank in Cassville.

Old Fashioned Jolly Mill Christmas

The Old Fashioned Jolly Mill Christmas and annual Christmas Open House will be held at Jolly Mill Park in Pierce City on from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 30 and Saturday, Dec. 1.

Santa will visit the event from 7 to 8:30 p.m. each night. Children are invited to bring an ornament to hang on Santa's tree. Parents are encouraged to bring cameras. Refreshments will be provided.

Jolly Mill Park is located off of Highway 60 west of Monett.

Wheaton Christmas Craft and Food Fair

The City of Wheaton will hold its first Wheaton Christmas Craft and Food Fair in the Wheaton City Park and at the Wheaton Community Building from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Dec. 8.

Vendors, which can be individuals or organizations, are invited to offer crafts and all types of food during the event. Ethnic foods will be featured at the event.

Booth space will be offered outdoors under a tent in the city park at a cost of $10. Vendors will be required to provide their own tables.

Indoor booth space will be offered inside the community building at a cost of $35. Tables will be provided for indoor booths.

Individuals or groups interested in reserving a booth for the event are invited to call the Wheaton City Hall at 417-652-3314.
