Even though the season has ended for the Wildcats soccer team, postseason awards are starting to flow in for the Cassville athletes.
Six Wildcats were named to the Class 1, All-District 12 team.
David Verde, Wyatt Lopez and Indy Cole received first team honors. Brady Pry, Kendal Branham and Zach McGuffey were named to the second team.
Verde, a senior, scored 26 goals and had 14 assists for the black and gold this season.
"He was a great leader on and off the field," said Cassville head coach Andrew Hoskins. "David embodied the heart and dedication it took to be a great soccer player."
Cole another senior, earned All-District honors as a goalie for the second consecutive season.
"Indy kept us in every ball game," said Hoskins. "His determination and stubborn defense will be missed. He was a great leadership voice in the backfield."
Lopez is a great defender who became an invaluable asset to the Wildcats' defense. The junior scored two goals and added five assists this season.
"Wyatt emerged as a captain and leader this year," said Hoskins. "He commanded our defense and became a formidable force in the backfield."
Branham, a freshman, tallied five goals and dished out 14 assists in his first varsity season.
"It is rare to see talent like his at such a young age," said Hoskins. "Kendal is part of Cassville's soccer future. I look forward to coaching him and watching him develop."
Pry helped anchor the Cassville defense. The senior contributed three goals and five assists for the Wildcats.
"Brady is a physical defender who will be missed next season," said Hoskins. "Brady kept us close in every game."
McGuffey, a junior, scored 13 goals and had eight assists as a.
"Zach developed into an offensive threat this year," said Hoskins. "I will look forward to seeing him on the field next year."
