Kornerstone receives $3,500 grant

Wednesday, November 7, 2012

The Chaney Family Foundation has awarded Kornerstone, Inc., a $3,500 grant, which will be used to replace the air conditioning unit at the Kornerstone Early Childhood building.

According to Marlene Whitham, Kornerstone volunteer, the replacement of the cooling system will allow the building to be used for services that will benefit expectant teens and low income families in the Shell Knob community.

Kornerstone's Teen Mom program was founded in Shell Knob six years ago. The program helps area teens receive prenatal care and parenting training and encourages students to continue their education. Some choose to pursue a GED and others take pare in college courses after graduating high school.
