Catherine Marie Hicks, 101, of Shell Knob, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2012, in her home.
She was born July 1, 1911, in Kansas City, the daughter of John F. and Alice (Cramm) Ritchie. On Sept. 27, 1931, in Kansas City, she was united in marriage to Claude Oscar Hicks, who preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death were her parents and one brother, John Ritchie.
Survivors include: two daughters, Mary Catherine Brimberry, of Sugar Land, Texas, and Marjorie Ann Lemaitre, of St. Louis; six grandchildren; nine great- grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She grew up and received her education in Kansas City. For several years, she was a typist for Kansas City Power and Light Company. She was a Red Cross volunteer at Research Hospital in Kansas City for over 10 years. In 1972, she moved from Kansas City to Shell Knob to make her home. She was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Cassville and the Springfield Quilters Guild.
Funeral services were held Friday in Fohn Funeral Home, Shell Knob. Elder Chuck Petentler conducted the services. Graveside services were held Saturday at Memorial Park, Kansas City, under direction of Fohn Funeral Home, Shell Knob. Pastor Gary Stolle officiated.
