Robert T. Youngblood Jr., of Grandview, was born Oct. 15, 1931, in Oak Grove, Ark., a son of Robert T. and Harriet LuVesta (Nance) Youngblood. He departed this life Monday, Oct. 22, 2012, in Eagle Rock at the age of 81 years.
He grew up in Oak Grove, Ark., where he attended the Parrott and Blue Eye, Arkansas schools. He worked at Ocoma (Tyson's) in Berryville, Ark., for 10 years. He moved his family to Grandview in 1961 where he worked at Ford Motor Company. He went on to May Lumber Company and worked until 1980. Later, he began his own business in Pest Control which he retired from in 2003. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, dog racing champion, and eight ball player. He raised numerous national championship race dogs and competed in many eight ball tournaments at club 95, Mr. B's in Kansas City and held the eight ball record at Dew Drop Inn in Lee's Summit, for many years.
He is survived by: four children, Robert (Bobby) Youngblood, Ronnie Youngblood and wife, Donna, Pam Youngblood Stiles and husband, Mike Pierson, and Randal Youngblood, all of Eagle Rock; three brothers, Ertie Youngblood, of Oak Grove, Ark., Jimmie Ray Youngblood, of Green Forest, Ark., and Joy Lee Youngblood, of Ogden, Ut.; 13 grandchildren; 19 great- grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
On June 24, 1948, he was united in marriage with Violet (Mutt) Simkins who survives him in death. They had been divorced for many years but remained friends for life. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert T. and Harriet; four sisters, Marie Youngblood, Reba Flowers, Edna Bunch, Lucille Cook; and one brother Clayton Youngblood.
