Cassville and Monett traveled to Bolivar for the Class 3, District 6 competition, while Wheaton, Southwest and Purdy were at Springfield Underground for the Class 1 and Class 2, District 5 races.
The Wheaton Lady Bulldogs defeated Lutie, 21-34, to claim the district title and earn a team berth to the state championships. Junior Chase Burns paced Wheaton with her fourth place finish.
In the Class 1 boys race, Wheaton placed fourth in the team rankings and failed to qualify, although senior Jonathan Sherwood placed sixth and qualified as an individual. Sparta won the boys title with 21 points, followed by Crane with 42.
No local runners qualified in the Class 2 races. Southwest's Nicole Ickes was the top area runner, placing 17th in the girls division. James Pettit, of Southwest, was 18th. Only the top two teams and the top 15 individuals move on to state.
Springfield Catholic won both the boys' and girls' Class 2 district titles, scoring 23 points to win the girls' division and 36 points to win the boys' side.
At Bolivar, both the Monett and Cassville girls teams finished out of the state qualifying slots, with the Lady Cubs placing fifth and the Lady Wildcats finishing seventh. Only Monett's Grace Cloud qualified as an individual, placing eighth.
In the boys' race, Monett finished sixth and Cassville was eighth. McDonald County edged Bolivar in the team race, 64-65. Monett's Michael Morley qualified for the state meet, placing 11th.

The race schedule is as follows: Class 3 girls, 9 a.m.; Class 4 boys, 9:35 a.m.; Class 3 boys, 10:05 a.m.; Class 4 girls, 10:35 a.m.; Class 2 boys, 11:10 a.m.; Class 1 girls, 11:45 a.m.; Class 2 girls, 12:25 p.m.; and Class 1 boys, 1:05 p.m.
