The Lady Wildcats had hoped to ride the momentum of a 5-2 victory over Aurora but ran into a red-hot Lady Cubs team that went on to claim the district title.
The Lady Wildcats struggled against Monett pitcher Allie Krueger.
Cassville managed only three total hits, all singles, by Kelsey Baker, Callie Meek and Madison Jamieson.
Krueger struck out 11 Cassville batters and allowed only one runner to reach third base.
The Lady Wildcats put themselves in an early hole and could never recover.
Allie Krueger led off the game with a double for the Lady Cubs. Consecutive singles by Ratliff and Wismen loaded the bases. Abby Krueger reached on an error that allowed Allie Krueger and Ratliff to score, and Josee Krueger's single drove in Wiseman and Abby Krueger to give Monett a 4-0 lead.
Monett added a single tally in the fourth inning and three mores runs in the sixth to complete the scoring.
Quarterfinals
The Lady Wildcats roared to a 5-2 victory over Aurora to open play in the Class 3, District 12 on Oct. 3.
Cassville plated a run in its first at-bat. Baker singled with one out and scored on Emily Speakman's double.
Aurora took a brief lead in the top of the fourth inning with a pair of runs, but it would be all Cassville through the remainder of the game.
The Lady Wildcats wasted little time restoring order in the bottom of the fourth inning.
Cassville added two more insurance runs in the sixth inning with Meek and Fink providing RBI hits.
Lady Wildcat pitcher Taylor Wolf threw six innings, allowed six hits and struck out two.
