Each year a family from each county is recognized on Farm Family Day at the Missouri State Fair. This year, Barry County was represented by three generations of the Emil Rosewicz family. The Rosewicz farm is located three miles southwest of Monett, where the family raises registered limousin cattle. Emil Rosewicz also serves on the Barry County Extension Council. Pictured above, front row, from left, are: Jorge Zapata, Alycia Zapata and their sons, Diego and Dante Zapata, and Emil Rosewicz. Second row: Michael Ouart, vice provost, Office of Research and Extension; Sherry Jones, Missouri State Fair Commission; Jack Magruder, Missouri State Fair Commission; Jon Hagler, director, Missouri Department of Agriculture; Emily Wood, 2012 Missouri State Fair Queen; and Ronald Scheiderer, Missouri State Fair Commission. Farm Family Day provides the opportunity to honor one outstanding farm family from each county. This recognition event is jointly sponsored by Missouri Farm Bureau, Missouri Department of Agriculture, Missouri State Fair, University of Missouri Extension, and the University of Missouri College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources.
