The Central Crossing Fire Protection District (CCFPD) will host a Community Appreciation Day from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 13 at the department's headquarters, located at 23463 Highway 39 in Shell Knob.
"Shell Knob community members have been such loyal supporters of CCFPD, and we want them to know how much we appreciate each of them and their support," said CCFPD Fire Chief Rusty Rickard. "We are extremely proud of our volunteers and fleet and we want the community tax payers to see first-hand what they have accomplished through the fire department."
Fire trucks, command vehicles and other firefighting equipment and medical equipment will be on display during the event. Informational brochures, Firewise," will be available to homeowners outlining the wild land and urban protection.
"This information is extremely helpful in helping homeowners determine and identify the potential fire hazards on their property," Rickard said.
"We have also recently placed into service some additional military surplus vehicles, provided by the Missouri Department of Conservation," Rickard said. "These vehicles were given to the department at no cost. With volunteer labor and tax revenue, the vehicles were turned into fire trucks that are valued at much more than the expense to build or retrofit. These efforts were accomplished through the support of the community of Shell Knob."
Firefighters invite community members to attend the appreciation day event and learn more about the CCFPD.
