Southwest remains perfect in conference play

The Southwest Lady Trojans vol- leyball team won two of their three games last week. The Lady Trojans im- proved to 11-7-1 overall and 3-0 in the Ozark 7 Conference.

On Sept. 24, the Lady Trojans fell in three sets to state-ranked Pierce City. Southwest won the first set 26-24, but the Lady Eagles rallied to win the next two 25-13, 25-17. Shannon Mitchell, with nine kills and six blocks, and Tay-

lor Mettlach with seven kills, five blocks, two assists and two aces, led Southwest.

The Lady Trojans rebounded to defeat Hurley 25-22, 25-14 on Sept. 25. Mitchell had nine kills and four blocks. Atisha Boudreau added seven assists and two blocks. Montana Hendrix con- tributed six kills and five assists.

On Sept. 27, Southwest picked up a 25-17, 25-8 win over Wheaton. Hen-

drix had nine kills, six blocks, three as- sists and three digs. Mattlach added nine kills and five blocks.

Freshman setter Jaime Shrum played a strong game for the Lady Trojans, fin- ishing with eight assists and two aces and she made all 12 of her serves, in- creasing her serve percentage to 94.1 for the season.

Southwest plays Crane and McAuley in games this week.
