Cecil J. "Duke" Sherfy, 81, of Shell Knob, passed away Sunday, Sept. 30, 2012, in his home.
He was born June 28, 1931, in Michigan, the son of Cecil V. and Blanch (Steele) Sherfy. On March 7, 1951, in St. Louis County, he was united in marriage to Margaret "Peggy" Hoehne, who preceded him in death on July 2, 2003. Also pre- ceding him in death were his parents; one brother, Edward Sherfy; and one sister, Leta Ering.
Survivors include: one son, Scot Sherfy and his wife, Lisa, of Shell Knob; two daughters, Terry Blake- more, of Greenfield, and Denny Blake, of Shell Knob; one sister, Virginia Dubuque, of Shell Knob; 11 grandchildren; 14 great- grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
He grew up and re- ceived his education in Michigan, attending school in Manchester School House. He resided in St. Louis for several years be- fore moving to Shell Knob around 40 years ago. Being a long-time excavator, he helped build the Shell Knob bridge. He was a charter member of Shell Knob Ea- gles Lodge.
Funeral services were held today (Wednesday) in Fohn Funeral Home, Shell Knob. Pastor Bob Gaddis conducted the services. Bur- ial was at Fields Cemetery, Shell Knob.
