Fred Darrell Myers, 86, of Shell Knob, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2012, at his home.

He was born Jan. 17, 1926, in Ellisville, Ill., the son of Adam Ashel and Lucretia Anna Irene (Roth) Myers. On Dec. 6, 1947, in Shreveport, La., he was united in marriage to Hazel Onieta Rodgers, who preceded him in death on July 29, 2012. Also preceding him in death were his parents; one son, James Alan Myers; and one sister, Cherril Milligan.

Survivors include: two sons, John Adam Myers and his wife, Lou, of Las Vegas, N.M., and Steven Darrell Myers and his wife, Susan, of Jasper; one daughter, Pamela Ann Squires and her husband, J.D., of Sioux Falls, S.D.; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Fred grew up and received his education in Illinois. He served his country in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. For several years, he was a deputy sheriff in Wichita, Kan., and a truck driver for Ryder Trucking. he and Hazel moved to Shell Knob 38 years ago to make their home.

No services are scheduled at this time. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Fohn Funeral Home, Shell Knob.
