Robert "Bob" Smith, 76, formerly of Eagle Rock, currently of Holiday Island, Ark., passed away on Friday, Sept. 21, 2012, at the Brighton Ridge Nursing and Rehab in Eureka Springs, Ark. He was born on July 5, 1936, in Rifle, Colo., son of Charles and Mildred (Wiley) Smith.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. On Aug. 8, 1980, he was united in marriage to Jo Anne Black from Atlanta, Ga., in South Carolina. He retired from General Motors and then worked as a construction superintendent for several years. In 1999, they moved to the Eagle Rock where Bob became a volunteer member of the Eagle Rock, Golden, Mano Fire Department.
Survivors include: his wife, Jo Anne Smith, of Holiday Island, Ark.; one son, Charles Smith, of Atlanta, Ga.; two daughters, Karon Long and Sharon Smith, both of Atlanta, Ga.; two stepsons, Danny Johnston and Matt Johnston, both of Atlanta, Ga.; and one stepdaughter, Tara Teague, of Spartanburg, S.C. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.
Memorial services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at the White Funeral Home in Cassville. Memorials may be made to the Eagle Rock, Golden, Mano Fire Department and may be entrusted to the White Funeral Home.
