A Cassville man was hospitalized for stab wounds on Wednesday, Sept. 12, following an incident in Monett.
According to a statement from Monett Police Chief Tim Schweder, Jonathan Gemmecke, 32, reported he had been stabbed outside a house on Sixth Street shortly after 11:30 p.m.
Gemmecke drove himself to Cox Monett Hospital. He told officers he had been stabbed by a man on a bicycle with a knife. It was determined Gemmecke had serious injuries and he was flown by helicopter to a Springfield hospital for treatment.
Officers went to the Sixth Street location where they found blood on the ground. After no one answered the door, officers gained access and found a 32-year-old woman inside with a child.
"Based on evidence found at the scene and statements from witnesses, the woman was arrested for investigation of assault," the statement said.
A request for charges of first-degree domestic assault charges has been submitted with Lawrence County Prosecutor Don Trotter.
Gemmecke was reported to be in critical but stable condition on Thursday afternoon.
