Volunteers are needed for Shakin' in the Shell festival

Wednesday, September 19, 2012

Volunteers are needed for the seventh annual Shakin' in the Shell Festi-val, taking place on Sept. 22 in Shell Knob.

Event organizers say volunteers are needed to assist with parking, shut-tling guests from the park-ing lot to the festival in golf carts and at the admission gate.

Parking attendants will help direct the flow of traf-fic into designated parking areas. Golf cart drivers will shuttle festival goers from the parking area to the fes-tival, and admission gate volunteers will collect ad-mission and distribute arm-bands for those 18 years of age or older.

Those who assist with this year's festivities will have their name entered into a drawing just for vol-unteers. Prizes include gift certificates at Steak Inn, Nonnie's Nummies, Sub-way, BJ's and the Red Barn. Other prizes include: an Insignia 90MB flash memory camcorder, an non-contracted AT&T Go-Phone; a mini chocolate fondue fountain, a cupcake maker, Trivial Pursuit Rock Edition, a wine aerator from Sharper Image and $200 in cash.

Volunteers may work any of four 3-hour shifts. Volunteers working more than one shift will have one additional ticket per shift entered into the volunteers drawing.

Lawn chairs can be provided for those needing to be seated. The admission area will also be covered.

For more information, or to volunteer for one or more shifts, contact Karen Elsey, director at Shell Knob Chamber of Com-merce, at 417-858-3300.
