Suspect arrested in Casey's General Store robbery

An 18-year-old Cassville man has been arrested in connection with the Monday morning armed robbery at Casey's General Store, located at 728 Highway 60 in Monett. Barry County Sheriff Mick Epperly and Monett Police Detective Brian Landreth made the arrest today (Wednesday).

The incident occurred at 6:18 a.m. on Monday Sept. 10, when the suspect, wearing a dark mask, entered the store and brandished a knife, demanding money. He left the store with an undetermined amount of cash. He fled the scene on a bicycle, which he quickly discarded, and fled on foot.

The suspect is in custody at the Monett Municipal Jail and charges are pending.

Monett Police Chief Tim Schweder is asking Barry County Prosecuting Attorney Johnnie Cox to charge the suspect with first degree robbery and armed criminal action.

The name of the suspect is not being released pending the filing of formal charges.
