Lloyd Keith Tichenor, 75, of Wheaton, passed away Monday, Sept. 3, 2012, in Select Specialty Hospital in Springfield.
He was born Aug. 9, 1937, in Oklahoma City, Okla., the son of Melvin E. and Oma Opal (Fehring) Tichenor. On Sept. 20, 1990, he was united in marriage to Shirley Cockrum, and she survives.
Additional survivors include: one son, Greg Tichenor, of Cassville; three daughters, Kim Kenney and her husband, Mike, of Cassville, Kelly Brown and her husband, Larry, of Fairview, and Kay McCullah and her husband, Doug, of Cassville; nine grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; two stepchildren, Jason Cockrum, of Columbia, and Gary Cockrum, of Harrisburg; and two step-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers, R.L. Tichenor of Kansas City, Jean Tichenor, of Wheaton, Ed Tichenor, of Abilene, Texas, John Tichenor, of Wasilla, Alaska, and Charley Tichenor, of Wheaton.
Preceding him in death were his parents and one stepson, Ray.
He grew up and received his education in Rocky Comfort graduating with the class of 1955. He was employed as an over-the-road truck driver and self-employed as an excavation operator until he was forced into retirement due to an injury. He also owned several businesses in the Wheaton area. He was a member of the Baptist faith. He was a 32 degree Mason in Comfort Lodge #533, the Scottish Rite of Joplin and a member of the Abou Ben Adhem Shrine.
Funeral services were held Friday in McQueen Funeral Home, Wheaton. Pastor Paul Wahlert conducted the services. Burial was at Rocky Comfort Cemetery.
