Program focuses on Bright Futures

Wednesday, September 5, 2012
Soroptimist International of Barry County held its monthly program meeting on Aug. 23. Guest speaker Melanie Stringer, Cassville Middle School assistant principal, spoke about the R-4 School District's new Bright Futures program. The goal of Bright Futures is to meet any child's basic needs within 24 hours of identifying the need. Bright Futures uses partnerships between the school, community members, businesses and organizations to create a rapid response system to match resources and social networks to the needs of students in the school system. In turn, the program also creates an opportunity for students to give back to the school and community through service programs. Soroptimist is a professional women's organization that does service work and fundraising that benefits women and children in need.
