County tax sale offers over 100 parcels

Of that total, $19,889.27 will be applied to back taxes owed on the 45 parcels of land that were sold to the highest bidders. The remaining $27,228.37 will be held in the county's over-plus account. The annual tax sale offered a total of 113 parcels of land. The tax sale attracted 32 registered buyers. In 2011, Janice Varner, Barry County collector, indicated that the county offered the largest number of parcels that did not sell. The number of unsold parcels increased from 44 last year to 68 this year. In March, Barry County started with over 460 properties on its tax sale list. Varner, assisted by Gary Youngblood, county clerk, and Cindy Casper, chief deputy collector, conducted the 2012 tax sale, which was held in the Barry County Courthouse in Cassville on Aug. 27.
