Cassville Boy Scout Troop #76 and Cassville Cub Scout Pack #76 will hold a School Night To Join Scouting at the Memorial Park, which is located on Highway 112 next to the American Legion Building in Cassville, from 6 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 6. Events will also be held at Southwest Elementary School and Purdy Elementary School on Sept. 6. First through 12th grade boys are invited to sign up for Scouting during the event. The annual registration fee is $15. Scouts can also purchase an annual subscription to Boys' Life magazine for an additional $12. Scouting is designed to help youth develop academic skills, self-confidence, ethics, leadership skills and citizenship skills that will influence their adult lives. Scouting also provides programs and activities that allow youth to try new activities and serve others. The organization promotes activities that lead to personal responsibility, which helps youth make positive choices. Cub Scout Pack #76 recently received a generous donation from American Legion Post #118, which will be used to purchase books, badges, belt loops and patches for Scouts. Pictured above, are: David Samuel, Cub Master; Pete Landstad, American Legion Post #118 commander; Jerry Bernsen, Boy Scout Council member; Bryon Haverstick, Boy Scouts of America district director; Robert Callahan, American Legion Post #118 finance officer; and Cub Scouts Anthony Harris, Gregory Keen, Carter Samuel, Levi Lasley, Robert Harris and Quixote Gautney-Lopez. Absent from the photo, are: Kasen Holman and Andrew Hermansen.
