Betty Jo Farmer, 81, of Wheaton, passed away Saturday, Aug. 25, 2012, in her home.

She was born Nov. 15, 1930, in Iron Stob, Okla., the daughter of Joe Taylor and Mamie Helen (Menasco) Myers. On Sept. 8, 1947, in Santa Maria, Calif., she was united in marriage to Lawson Earl Farmer, who preceded her in death on Aug. 13, 2006. Also preceding her in death were her parents; one daughter, Sue; two sons, Allen and Donnie; two children in infancy; and eight brothers and sisters.

Survivors include: two sons, Rev. Randy Farmer and his wife, Rev. Beverly, of Grove, Okla., and Christopher Farmer and his wife, Sylvia, stationed in El Paso, Texas, with the U.S. Army; two daughters, Linda Marie Ballard, of Wheaton, and Deborah Louise Bowen and her husband, Mark, of Spokane; two brothers, Joe Cecil Myers, of Poplar, Calif., and Gerald Wayne Myers, of California; one sister, Sue Akin, of Porterville, Calif.; 18 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

For a few years, she was a nurse and then she became a licensed Full Gospel evangelist. She moved from California to Wheaton to make her home, but preached throughout the United States for the Full Gospel Churches International. For several years, she was the pastor of churches in Wyandotte, Okla., Tracy and Wheaton. She was also a foster parent.

Services will be held today (Wednesday) in McQueen Funeral Home, Wheaton. Rev. Robert Rhoads conducted the services. Burial was at Tracy Cemetery, Pineville.
