Law is ridiculous
I read a letter to the editor in the Aug. 15 edition of the Cassville Democrat from Cleta Stanley concerning the confinement of a pet raccoon. According to the letter, the raccoon had been a pet for eight years, and now for some ungodly reason two big brave agents decided to put this poor defenseless animal in a cage after all this time.
Also according to the article, it has been caged now for over three weeks, and they might have to put it to death. If they wait another two weeks or so that will not be necessary because, as strange as it sounds, it will die from neglect since it has been a pet this long.
What was the problem? Had it attacked someone or was it terrorizing the neighborhood? I think not.
Just to pick it up on the pretext of a stupid law is ridiculous. Do the agents have dogs or cats? If they do, they better confine them also. They will still have wild instincts from thousands of years of evolution. Man came along and tamed them, but they still have that wild in them. That is the reason some attack their owners. I guess these agents didn't get enough training to know this.
The agents should be real proud.
The raccoon was a pet. Give it back to the owners where it belongs.
