Results for Purdy livestock show announced

Grand champion Democrat Photo by Jared Lankford Sophie Wagner and her prize winning dairy calf "Cupcake" enjoyed a great time at the Purdy Livestock Show and Purdy Festival. Wagner is in her second year of showing animals.
Winners have been named in the various competitions during the Purdy FFA Alumni Livestock Show, held on July 21 at Purdy High School.

* Market Hogs over 221 lbs. Grand Champion: Jonathon Gregory

* Market Hogs under 220 lbs. grand Champion: Jarett Hinson

Market sale

This year, the show featured inaugural terminal market sale. Eight head were sold in the sale. Total gross sales were $13,650, with an average of $1.706 per animal.

Billie House, of the Purdy FFA, had the top selling beef at $2,225.

Terminal buyers were as follows:

* Kip Cullers and Kevin Keeling, of K& K Farms; Gary Schad; Duane Hammen, of Hammen Trucking; Bill House; Mareth Enterprise; and Joplin Regional Stockyards.

The following business contributed for add-on money to the youth: Purdy FFA Alumni; First State Bank; Mareth Enterprise; Reliable Poultry; Joplin Regional Stockyards; Tyson Inc. of Monett; Farm Pro and Joplin Regional Stockyards provided the auction service.
