Dr. Jess Kessinger, 65, went home to be with his Lord on Wednesday, August 8, 2012, after a short illness. He was born February 8, 1947, in Buffalo, Missouri, the son of Dr. A.J. (Jack) and Wilma (Butler) Kessinger. He graduated from Neosho High School in 1965 and Cleveland Chiropractic College in Kansas City in 1969. Professionally "Dr. Jess", as friends and patients affectionately called him, maintained a private practice for 43 years in Missouri. He was a member of the Missouri State Chiropractic Association (MSCA) and the American Chiropractic Association (ACA). Dr. Kessinger was a member of the First Christian Church of Carthage, the Seeker's Sunday School Class, and Gideon's International. He was active in the Jasper County Jail Ministry and a past board member of the Carthage Crisis Center.
Jess married Peggy Foster, of Monett, on December 26, 1992, and she survives. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Virginia Kessinger of Rolla; two nephews, Dr. Jay Kessinger and wife Joy, of Rolla and Dr. Rob Kessinger and wife, Dr. Christina Kessinger of Cape Girardeau; five great nieces and nephews and one great great nephew. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Dr. Jack Kessinger of Rolla; a sister, Marilyn Schneller and a nephew, Clint Kessinger of Rolla.
Visitation was held at the First Christian Church, Carthage, on Sunday, August 12, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Services were held on Monday, August 13, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Christian Church. Pastor David Cook officiated. Graveside services were held at 4:00 p.m., Monday in the IOOF Cemetery, Monett, Mo. Memorial gifts are suggested to the Gideon's International.
