A Pierce City man is wanted for murder in connection with the death of Able Ibarra, of Purdy.

Martin Meza, also known as Carlos Gonzalez, age 28, has been charged with first degree murder, and his whereabouts are currently unknown.

According to the Lawrence County Sheriff's Department, Meza should be considered armed and dangerous and should not be approached. Citizens are urged to call 911 immediately if they come into contact with Meza or know where he can be apprehended.

Ibarra's body was found on the morning of Aug. 12 in a wooded area northeast of Pierce City off of a Lawrence County farm road. The discovery was made the morning after deputies responded to a call of shots fired at a location a few miles away from where Ibarra's body was found.

A cause of death has not been determined pending an autopsy.

Sheriff Brad DeLay reports that an ongoing investigation conducted by Lawrence County detectives resulted in sufficient evidence for a warrant to be issued by Lawrence County Prosecuting Attorney Don Trotter.

Anyone with information about the case can contact the

Lawrence County Sheriff's Office at 417-466-2131.
