There are still plenty of vegetables at the Old Church Gallery Farmers' Market, despite the hot, dry weather. The Farmers' Market is open from 8 to 11 a.m. each Thursday at the Old Church Gallery. Produce includes watermelons, cantaloupes, peaches, tomatoes, green beans, cabbage, carrots, potatoes, squash, onions and eggplant. Also offered are products from Loranae Dairy, pies, cookies, brownies, breads, jellies, jams, honey and cold beverages. Farm fresh eggs are available but in short supply. Crafters are also offering their goods, including cedar chairs, benches and walking sticks, handmade dolls and teddy bears, refurbished metal lawn chairs featuring lake designs, tire bird feeders, wooden cutting boards, stoneware and chimes. An assortment of handmade pottery, decorative and birdhouse gourds, bird houses and feeders, jewelry, knitted and crocheted items and kids' flip flops are also available. The Old Church Gallery is located on Farm Road 1240, one-half mile north of the plaza and across from the school. For more information, call 417-858-2510 between the hours of 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. any day except Wednesday.
