Luncheon to feature KY3 editor

The Cassville Area Chamber of Commerce will hold its third quarterly luncheon of 2012 at the Barry County Museum at noon on Tuesday, Aug. 7. The guest speaker will be Chris Brewer, digital media editor for KY3 and KSPR in Springfield.

Brewer assists the newsrooms of KY3 and KSPR in creating and managing content for and He also helps manage both stations' social networking presences. He has held his position since January.

"This is a great educational opportunity for our membership," said Mindi Artherton, chamber executive director. "The reality is social networking is a way of life for many in our community.

"This luncheon will provide our businesses with the knowledge to make sure they are using this avenue to reach out to potential customers," added Artherton.

Brewer will talk about the importance of utilizing social networking in the business community. He will also share tips for improving Facebook reach and maximizing Facebook usage.

"It's an honor to live in the Ozarks and to be a part of everyone's lives here," said Brewer. "I really enjoy the area, and I'm glad to be able to not only work for the best news station in town, but to truly connect with people around me and get to know everyone on a personal level."

Prior to joining the staff at KY3, Inc., Brewer served as a reporter for The Chronicle in Centralia, Wash. He also served four years in the United States Air Force as a radio and television broadcaster including a stint in Iraq.

Brewer currently lives in Springfield. He creates and posts videos of sermons online and assists with children's ministry at Crimson House Ministries in Springfield.

The Cassville Area Chamber of Commerce's "The Chamber: Today and Beyond" program is designed to showcase contributions made to the local community by area businesses, industries and organizations.

Community members who attend the luncheon will enjoy a meal catered by the BBQ Station. The quarterly luncheon event will cost $8 per person.
