Hazel Onieta Myers, 84, of Shell Knob, passed away Sunday, July 29, 2012, in Mercy Hospital, Cassville.

She was born June 15, 1928, in Beckville, Texas, the daughter of John Thomas and Ethel Minnie (Jones) Rodgers. On Dec. 6, 1947, she was united in marriage to Fred Darrell Myers, who survives.

Additional survivors include: two sons, John Adam Myers and his wife, Lou, of New Mexico, and Steven Darrell Myers and his wife, Susan, of Jasper; one daughter, Pamela Ann Squires and her husband, J.D., of Sioux Falls, S.D.; one brother, George Rodgers, of Wake Village, Texas; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her parents and one son, James Allen Myers.

She grew up and graduated from high school in Texarkana, Ark. She then received her registered nurse's training from Shreveport, La. After their marriage, she and Fred moved to Wichita, Kan., where they raised their family, moving to Shell Knob 38 years ago to make their home. Throughout her life, she has worked as a registered nurse at various facilities in the Wichita and Shell Knob areas.
