George Collings, 78, of Springdale, Ark., passed away Tuesday, July 24, 2012, in Westwood Health and Rehab, Springdale, Ark.

He was born April 29, 1934, in Stella, the son of Leonard and Ocie (Francisco) Collings. On Dec. 17, 1976, in Wheaton, he was united in marriage to Maudell Cox, who survives.

Additional survivors include: one son, Bruce W. Collings, of Springdale, Ark.; two stepsons, Buddy Maxell, of Fayetteville, Ark., and Terry Maxell, of Jonesboro, Ark.; three step-daughters, Jane Smith and her husband, Billie, of Springdale, Ark., Brenda Singletary and her husband, Stan, of Springdale, Ark., and Karla Tate and her husband, Terry, of Ash Grove; 17 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his parents; one son, Alan Collings; and six brothers, Clarence, Willie, Leo, Virgil, Tommy and Samuel Collings.

He grew up in southwest Missouri and received his education at Wheaton, graduating from Wheaton High School. For several years, he resided in Lovington, N.M., where he owned and operated a quick lube. Around 20 years ago, he moved to Springdale, Ark., to make his home and worked as a mechanic for Goodyear for several years. He was of the Baptist faith. Graveside services were held Saturday at Union Cemetery, Stella, under direction of McQueen Funeral Home, Wheaton. Pastor Joe Wogoman conducted the services.
