Rachel R. Sams, 67, of Jenkins, passed away Thursday, July 12, 2012, in Mercy Hospital, Springfield.
She was born Sept. 16, 1944, in Springfield, the daughter of Charles Floyd and Elizabeth Scott (Grandstaff) Price. On Oct. 13, 1984, in Jenkins, she was united in marriage to Darrell Sams, who survives.
Additional survivors include: one son, Nathan Sams, of Jenkins; one daughter, Sandy Delano, of Jenkins; three stepdaughters, Sherry Tate and her husband, Danny, of Washburn, Tonya Colson, of Salem, Ore., and Brandy Hunziker and her husband, Charles, of Lampasas, Texas; two brothers, John Price, of Monmouth, Ore., and Daniel Price and his wife, Diane, of Buckeye, Ariz.; four sisters, Margarete Slane, of Aurora, Dorothy Norris, of Aurora, Lorene Ward and her husband, Mike, of Walla Walla, Wash., and Mary Mako and her husband, Rocky, of Largo, Fla.; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her parents and three brothers, Richard Price, Billy Bob Price and Jim Price.
She grew up in the Jenkins area and received her education at Aurora High School. For several years, she was a baker at Ramey in Aurora and later in Cassville. She was of the Baptist faith.
Funeral services were held Tuesday in Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville. Jim Kerr conducted the services. Burial was at Clio Cemetery, Jenkins.
