Cecil L. Johnson, 84, of Eagle Rock, passed away Sunday, July 15, 2012, in Red Rose Health and Rehabilitation Center, Cassville.

He was born July 20, 1927, in North Kansas City, the son of Hosie and Lola (Anderson) Johnson. On April 12, 1947, he was united in marriage to Marian Morelock, who survives.

Additional survivors include: two children, Sandy Snow and her husband, Ronnie, of Kansas City, and Mike Johnson and his wife, Rita, of Polo; 10 grandchildren, two of which he raised as his own, Tami Mansil and her husband, Steven, of Kansas City, and Brandi Beck and her husband, John, of Eagle Rock; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Preceding him in death were his parents; one daughter, Barbara Giordano; and two brothers, Clyde and Cletus Johnson.

He graduated from North Kansas City High School with the class of 1945. He served in the U.S. Army and the Merchant Marines. For 35 years, he worked for the North Kansas City Fire Department, becoming their Fire Chief. He loved playing country music and had played music with several country stars, as the opening band, including Moe Bandi, Hank Williams, Jr., and George Jones.

Memorial services will be held at a later date in Kansas City. Cremation arrangements are under direction of Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville.
