Darrel Lee Morlan, 62, of Monett, passed away Thursday, July 12, 2012, at his home. He was born July 6, 1950, in Wheaton, the son of Beulah (Potter) Morlan and the late Jack Morlan. He was united in marriage on Sept. 18, 1970, in Monett, to Donna Spain, and she survives.
He was a retired rural letter carrier for the U.S. Post Office and was active in his home church, First Baptist in Cassville. He also sang gospel music across the United States with several groups, including The Morlan Family, The Gospel Lads and The Signature Quartet.
Additional survivors include: his mother, Beulah Morlan; one son, John Morlan, and his wife, Erin, Monett; one daughter, Julie Morlan, of Purdy; one brother, Dale Morlan, of Monett; and two sisters, Clara Dodson, of Purdy, and Janie Knight, of Purdy.
Graveside services were held Tuesday at Arnhart Cemetery in Purdy, with Dr. John Duncan officiating.
In his honor, there will be a singing celebration of life on Sunday, July 29, 2012, at 7 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Cassville.
In lieu of flowers or plants, the family requests donations in his name to The Show Me Christian Youth Home or Royal Family Kids Camp.
Arrangements were under the care of Bennett-Wormington Funeral Home in Monett.
