Charles Leon Riddle, 87, of Ozark, passed away June 21, 2012. He was born June 5, 1925, in Cassville, to Charles and Audra (Moore) Riddle. He was a member of South Haven Baptist Church, Springfield.

He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. His ship, Mt. Olympus, was docked in Tokyo Bay to witness the signing of the Japanese surrender.

He attended Oklahoma Baptist University, University of Arkansas and Southwestern Seminary, Louisville, Ky. He was ordained in 1947. For over 60 years, he pastored many churches throughout Missouri, including Grant Avenue Baptist Church in Springfield and First Baptist Church in Neosho. He served as minister of senior adults at Second Baptist Church, Springfield.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Elma (Cook) Riddle, his parents, and one brother Verdayne Riddle, of Cassville.

Survivors include: his wife, Virginia; two sons, Charles Riddle and Michael David Riddle and his wife, Jan, of Springfield; one grandson; a brother, Larry Gene Riddle and his wife, Beverly, of Wheaton; and a sister-in-law, Evelyn Riddle, of Cassville.

Funeral services were held June 26 at Greenlawn Funeral Home North, Springfield, with pastor Ryan Palmer officiating. Burial was at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, Springfield.
