Berlene Dorothy (Moege) Stolte, 96, died Thursday, July 5, 2012, at the Pioneer Medical Center in Big Timber, Montana.

Berlene was born on April 29, 1916, in Topeka, Kan. She married the Reverend Alfred Stolte in 1940. They lived in Hunter, Clay Center and Pratt, Kan., and Cassville, Missouri, during their Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod ministry years. The couple retired to Loveland, Colo., in 1978.

She moved to Big Timber in 1988, following the death of her husband, to be near her daughter, son-in-law, and grandchildren.

The Reverend and Mrs. Stolte moved to Cassville in 1974. They administered to the Lutheran congregation in many ways until retiring in 1978. Berlene was, first and foremost, a helpmate to her husband in his pastoral work. She had many friends in the community, several of which she stayed in touch with over the past 34 years.

The couple particularly enjoyed the beauty of the Ozarks and Berlene fondly recalled the many outings they took in the area, often to visit parishioners.

Mrs. Stolte was preceded in death by her husband; her parents, Herman and Freda (Niemann) Moege and her brother and sister-in-law, Cedric and Wilma Moege of Topeka, Kan.; and an infant daughter.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Beccy and Dale Oberly, Big Timber, Mont.; her grandson and his family, Charles and Amber Oberly and Emmy, Big Timber, Mont.; her two granddaughters and their families, Ellie and Tony Ursino, Annica and Juliana, Kent, Wash., and Elizabeth and Eon Day, Makenna and Taylin, Missoula, Mont.; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held in Topeka, Kan., in September. If desired, memorials may be made to The Lutheran Hour (radio outreach program), 660 Mason Ridge Center, St. Louis, MO 63141; the Pioneer Medical Center, P.O. Box 1228, Big Timber, MT 59011; or a charity of the donor's choice.
