Lowell McInturff, of Wheaton, captured the state title in the Hammer Throw at the Missouri State Senior Games on June 9 on the campus of the University of Missouri-Columbia. This is McInturff's fourth Missouri state title in the hammer throw.

His winning throw of 100-feet, 11-inches beat his previous personal best throw by over 3 feet. His previous personal best was also the state record in Missouri for his age division.

McInturff is also the defending state champion hammer thrower for Oklahoma and is ranked #12 in the nation in the USA Masters Track and Field rankings. In addition, McInturff finished first in the 800-meter prediction race, second in the weight throw and fourth in the shot put at this year's Senior Games.

Lowell and Twyla McInturff reside just north of Wheaton.
