Roy Calvin Laney, 78, of Cassville, passed away Sunday, June 24, 2012, in Cassville Health and Rehabilitation.

He was born June 10, 1934, in Washburn, the son of Ira Ernest and Dorthy Ellen (Day) Laney. On May 3, 2004, in Wyandotte, Okla., he was united in marriage to Virginia Laney, who survives.

Additional survivors include: one sister, Marie Madison and her husband, Charles "Bud," of Cassville. Preceding him in death were his parents; five sisters, Lillie, Barbara, Faye and two in infancy; and four brothers, Richard, Ray, Oscar and William Howard.

He grew up between Exeter and Washburn and received his education at Washburn. His entire life was spent as a self-employed crop farmer, except for a few years, when he worked at George's. He was saved at the age of 18 in a revival at the old Wayne School House.

Graveside services were held Monday at Concord Cemetery, Exeter, under direction of Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville.
