Amber Cox has been named to the Phoenix Business Journal's 2012 Top 40 under 40 list. Cox, Phoenix Mercury president and chief operating officer, was recognized for the achievement at an awards banquet held at the grand Canyon University arena on June 19. She is the granddaughter of Frances Tucker, of Monett, and Dorothea Cox, of Cassville. Cox joined the Phoenix Mercury franchise in 2005 as the director of marketing. She was actively involved in securing the Mercury's marquee partnership with LifeLock in 2009, which was the first of its kind in the WNBA. Cox was named chief operating officer of the franchise in 2011, and manages all business operations, including ticket sales, sponsorships, marketing, public and community relations. This year, Cox has also assisted with player acquisition and contract negotiations. Mercury is one of the eight original WNBA clubs and is part of the longest running professional women's team sports league in the United States.
