Bernice Hazen, 90, of Carbondale, Kan., passed away Monday, June 18, 2012, in Stormont Vail Hospital, Topeka, Kan.
She was born June 4, 1922, in Girard, Kan., the daughter of Sherman and Hazel May (Markham) Yoho. On Sept. 5, 1940, in Girard, Kan., she was united in marriage to Harold E. Hazen, who preceded her in death on April 26, 1995. Also preceding her in death were her parents and two brothers, Wayne Yoho and Vernon Yoho.
Survivors include: one son, Gerald Hazen, of Carbondale, Kan.; one daughter, Patricia Ann Harris and her husband, Bill, of Rossville, Kan.; one brother, Carol Yoho, of Rockford, Ill.; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
She received her education at Walnut, Kan. In 1970, she and Harold moved from Girard, Kan., to Cassville, where they owned and operated Hazen Garage and Used Cars and Mobile Home Park located on Highway 248. Upon their retirement they moved to Branson, where Bernice remained until moving to Carbondale, Kan., to be near her family. She was of the Baptist Faith.
Graveside services were held Friday in Oak Hill Cemetery, Cassville, under direction of Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville. Brother Bob Neeley conducted the services.
