Wilbur "Rex" Williams, 83, of Verona, passed away on Friday, June 22, 2012, at his home. He was born April 11, 1929, in Barry County, the son of Wendell Rex and Lola Fern (Mullen) Williams.
He lived in the Barry and Lawrence county communities his entire life and was a 1947 graduate of Verona High School. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during the Korean Conflict. He was a dairy and beef farmer and a member of the Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church. On June 7, 1956, he married Anita Weddington, of Monett, and she survives.
Additional survivors include: three sons, Stan Williams and his wife, Peggy, of Verona, Jim Williams, of Monett, and Jack Williams, of Bolivar; two daughters, Jane Brewer and her husband, Dan, of Springfield, and Maggie Ingram, of Nixa; two sisters, Marjorie Thomas and her husband, John, of Monett, and Geneva Geil and her husband, George, of Harligen, Texas; one brother, Darrell Williams and his wife, Joyce, of Verona; 14 grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
funeral services were held today (Wednesday) at the Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church with burial at Clay Hill Cemetery.
