Barry County residents now have a new option for refrigeration and air conditioning repairs. Ice Age Refrigeration and Air, which is owned by Robert Scott Melton, opened on June 14.

"Opportunity brought me to Barry County," said Melton. "I have never had as little trouble opening a business as I have in this state. There have been so many friendly people to help me. I thank God for bringing me here."

Prior to moving to Barry County, Melton worked in the refrigeration and air conditioning repair field in Florida for 20 years.

He also studied heating and air conditioning repair for two years and low-pressure refrigeration repair for four years at Florida Community College of Jacksonville, Fla.

Melton moved to Barry County after meeting his wife, Rebecca, when he was traveling across Missouri with a friend. Although Melton has been operating his business out of the couple's home, he plans to move Ice Age Refrigeration and Air to a building he has rented next to Dollar General in Seligman.

"I love Barry County," said Melton. "I love the people, and I love the land. The views in this area are absolutely breathtaking."

Melton offers repair services for all types of heating and air conditioning, ventilation and refrigeration systems. He is certified to service L1 propane and natural gas systems.

"I offer free service calls to all active military and veterans," said Melton. "I wasn't able to serve in the military so I do this for a service to those who did. Right now, all service call fees are half price.

"We will also beat any written bid," said Melton. "I feel everybody deserves a fair, honest deal, and that is what I strive to offer all of my customers."

Melton is assisted by Jake King, who is working as an apprentice in an effort to learn the refrigeration and air conditioning repair trade.

For more information, call Melton at 479-330-1730.
