The annual Stones Prairie Picnic, hosted by St. John's Lutheran Church at Stones Prairie, two and a half miles northwest of Purdy, has been scheduled for Friday, July 20. Serving will begin at 6 p.m.
The picnic, held on the church grounds, will feature live entertainment, freshly cooked hamburgers and homemade desserts. There will be games for the children, many based on traditional demonstrations of skill offered at picnics a century ago. Bingo will be available for adults.
An exhibit of antique farm equipment, vehicles and horse-drawn wagon rides will be offered. The country store will feature baked goods and a drawing for a homemade quilt.
Phil Shad will be the chairman for the picnic. In case of rain, the picnic will be held on Saturday, July 21.
Rev. Philip Wolf, church pastor, said a special worship service would be held at 10:30 a.m. on the picnic grounds on Sunday, July 22.
