Louis B. Gillespie, 79, of Rocky Comfort, passed away on Monday, May 28, 2012, at the Landmark Hospital in Joplin.
He was born on May 2, 1933, in Doniphan, son of Floyd and Flora Rachel (York) Gillespie. He owned a farm in Ava before moving to Rocky Comfort, where he also owned a farm. He was a member of the Church of God International.
He married Lydia Faye McArthur on Aug. 12, 1952, in Pocahontas, Ark. She preceded him in death.
Survivors include: two daughters, Carol Blanton, and her husband, John, of Exeter, and Dora Elaine Daniel, of Monett; two grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandsons; three brothers, his twin brother Lester Gillespie, of Ava, Glen Gillespie, of Clear Water, and Robert Gillespie, of Lake Wales, Fla.; two sisters, Pauline Menson, of Creve Coeur, Ill., and Joan McKnight, of Doniphan; and one brother-in-law, James McArthur, of Arnold.
In addition to his wife and his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Jerry Boyd Gillespie, one daughter, Teresa Ann Gillespie, and three grandchildren.
Services were held June 1 at White Funeral Home in Cassville, with burial following at Rocky Comfort Cemetery.
