Leonard Arden Juel, 85, of Seligman, passed away Tuesday, June 5, 2012, in Mercy Hospital, Cassville.
He was born in Mission, S.D., on Sept. 3, 1926, the son of Lester Arnold and Lillian Albertha (Sauerwein) Juel. In 1951, he married Ima Fay Davis, who preceded him in death. On May 15, 1997, he married Ambolene Tilford, who preceded him in death on May 7, 2008. He was also preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Andrew and Dick.
Survivors include: two sons, Leonard Allen Juel and his wife, Jill, and Tim Juel, all of Bentley, Kan.; one brother, Louis Juel, of Satanta, Kan.; three grandchildren; and three great- grandchildren.
He received his early education in South Dakota, where the enrollment was two hundred Sioux Indians, three white kids and the teacher. At the age of 11, he and his family moved to Washburn. He moved to Oklahoma where he worked for Swift Baking Company and Olliver Implement Company and on to Kansas City, where he was employed by General Mills. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Following his service, he returned to Missouri and worked at Ken-Ark and Walmart, where he retired after 11 years.
Funeral services were held Friday in Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville. Rev. Bob Scott conducted the services. Burial, with full military honors, was at Washburn Prairie Cemetery, Washburn.
