This week, the Barry-Lawrence Regional Library will kick off its summer reading program with shows featuring magician DJ Edwards. The performance will offer a blend of magic, juggling, comedy and storytelling.
Edwards will appear at the Shell Knob Branch Library at 10 a.m., the Cassville Branch Library at 1:30 p.m. and the Purdy Branch Library at 3:30 p.m. on June 7. The Eagle Rock Branch Library will kick off its summer program with a science program featuring Heno Head at 2 p.m. on Thursday.
The Shell Knob, Cassville, Purdy and Eagle Rock libraries will offer programs for children throughout the summer. The Shell Knob, Cassville and Purdy branches will also offer programs for teens.

The Cassville Library will offer "Dream Big, Read," for preschool through fifth grade students. Preschool programs will be held at 10:30 a.m. each Thursday, and programs designed for kindergarten through fifth grade students will be held at 1:30 p.m. each Thursday.
This year's preschool programs will include: This Little Light of Mine, June 14; Night, Night, June 21; Dairy Dreams, June 28; and Night Owls, July 12. Ronald McDonald will visit with preschoolers at the library on July 19.
Kindergarten through fifth grade students are invited to the following programs: Animals of the Night, featuring the zoo, June 14; Night Adventures, featuring storyteller Frisco Jack, June 21; Dream the Big Science Dream, June 28; and Big Dreams Plus Big Science Equals Heno Head, July 12.
"Own the Night" teen summer reading programs will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday or Thursday throughout the summer. Programs include: Light the Night, featuring Barry Electric Cooperative, June 12; Dreamin' of the 80s, June 26; and Write the Night, featuring Philip Van Voorst Calligraphy, July 10.
Teens are also invited to enjoy food, a film and fun at the library at 6:30 p.m. on June 14 and July 12.
All summer reading club participants are also invited to attend Stargazing with Ted Keller at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 5.
The Cassville Branch Library will celebrate the completion of the 2012 summer reading program with a pool party at the Cassville Aquatic Center from 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, July 19. All participants are invited to attend. A movie and rewards party for all participants will be held at the library at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 26.

The Purdy Branch Library will offer summer reading programs for preschool through fifth grade students at 3:30 p.m. each Wednesday.
The following activities will be offered at the library: self portraits and healthy snacks, June 13; summer Stitchin' at the Library, June 20; Chesapeake Hatchery and live fish, June 27; pajama party, July 11; and science party with Heno Head, July 25.
Teen readers are invited to learn to tie dye clothing and receive information about stargazing at 3 p.m. on Friday, June 8. The library will also host a wrap up party for teens at 3 p.m. on July 20. During the party, teens will have the opportunity to make duct tape photo frames, enjoy refreshments and receive prizes.

The Shell Knob Library will also offer summer reading programs for preschool through fifth grade students and teen readers. Teen programs will be offered at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesdays, and children's reading programs will be offered at 1 p.m. each Thursday.
Children's reading programs will include: bats and owls with Bob Korpella, June 14; wild nights with Wonders of Wildlife and Kings Royal Library RLP Puppet Company, June 21; Dream the Big Science Dream with Kent Williams, July 12; and neon T-shirt design, July 19.
Teens will have the opportunity to design neon T-shirts on June 13. Teen readers are also invited to take part in a Guitar Hero contest on June 27 and a black light pizza party with karaoke on July 11.
All summer reading program participants will have the opportunity to attend a pool party and barbecue at the Cassville Aquatic Center from 7 to 9 p.m. on July 26.

The Eagle Rock Library will offer summer reading programs at 2 p.m. each Wednesday throughout the summer. Children will have the opportunity to take part in the following activities: design a library book bag, June 13; dream photos, June 20; animals of the night, June 27; create a storybook, July 11; and wild nights with Wonders of Wildlife, July 18.
The Eagle Rock Library will celebrate the completion of its summer reading program on July 25. The program will offer information on George Washington Carver and an awards ceremony.
