Edward J. Albro Sr, 87, of Holiday Island, Ark., passed away on Sunday, June 3, 2012, at his home. He was born May 28, 1925, in Chicago, Ill., to Edward and Helen (Whittelsey) Albro.
He was formerly from Hutchison, Kan., where he retired as owner/co-founder from Haven Steel Co., which he started in 1969. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII, where he landed at Omaha Beach on D Day in 1944. He was awarded the Bronze Star and Good Conduct Medal.
Survivors include: his wife, Joann Albro; two sons, Scott Albro and Ned Albro; one daughter, Suzi Davis; two stepdaughters, Dawn DeLaurentis and Staci Folker; four grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Carol Bates, his son, George Albro, and his first wife, Patty Albro.
Memorial services were held Tuesday at the United Methodist Church, Eureka Springs, Ark.
