Lt. Danny Boyd, of the Cassville Police Department, presented a Drug Court Month Proclamation to the Barry County Drug Court Planning Committee on May 17. Drug courts are designed to reduce substance abuse and crime in the criminal justice system. The program can also be credited with restoring lives, reuniting families and improving community safety. Over 27,000 judges, prosecutors, defense attorneys, substance abuse and rehabilitation professionals, law enforcement and community supervision personnel, researchers and educators, national and community leaders and other support drug court programs in the United States. Around 2,400 drug courts are operational across the country. Several members of the Barry County Drug Court Planning Committee are pictured above.
