Purdy student earns special awards

Wednesday, May 16, 2012

Avery Dawn Roller, of Purdy, a senior biology major at Hendrix College, received the Earle A. Spessard Biology Award and Hendrix College Leadership Scholar Award at the college's annual honors day convocation on April 26.

The Earle Spessard Award is offered to a biology major whose performance in courses, comprehensive examinations and departmental contributions are of the highest quality.

The leadership award is presented by the dean of students to those graduating seniors who have successfully completed the four-year leadership scholar curriculum. Students who complete the curriculum have actively engaged in activities, presentations and reflections that challenged and enhanced their leadership perspectives while contributing to the campus and community as exemplary leaders and servants.

Roller will graduate with distinction in biology.
