CHS FBLA members help plant trees

Wednesday, May 16, 2012
On May 5, Missouri FBLA-PBL members, including members of the Cassville High School FBLA Chapter, volunteered to plant 1,200 trees in Joplin. Around 12,000 trees were lost when the tornado devastated the city last year. More than $25,000 was donated over eight months to pay for the extraordinary project, which replenished 10 percent of the trees lost during the tornado. In addition, FBLA-PBL officers presented Dr. CJ Huff, Joplin superintendent, with a check for $5,000, which will be used for landscaping at the new high school. Cassville FBLA members who assisted with planting efforts included: Andrew Whitham, Jordan Fischer, Marcus Weatherman, Lane Madison, Kyle Stephenson, Arian Banks, Nathan Sutphin, Jaime Everett, Katelyn Pitts and Brittany Sanchez. Students are pictured above with Kay Stoddard, who lost trees during the tornado. Cassville FBLA advisers are Shelley Henderson and Chelsea Swadley.
