Galvan "super" at sectional track meet

Wake up Jefferson City. Superman returns.

Bubba Galvan swept all four of his individual events at the Class 1, Sectional 2 Track and Field Meet at Humansville, on Saturday, the same four events he won at last year's Class 1 state championships. In taking both horizontal jumps and both hurdle events, Galvan led the Bulldogs to a 62-point, fourth-place team finish.

Samantha Etzler placed sixth in the 800 meter race to score the only points for Wheaton's girls.

Wheaton state qualifiers:

First place

* Long jump: Galvan, 20'7".

* Triple jump: Galvan, 43'3".

* 110-meter hurdles: Galvan, 15'5'.

* 300-meter: Galvan, 40.3.

Second place

* High jump: Darrell Burns, 6'2".

Fourth place

* High jump: Justin Walker, 6'0".

The top four places in each event qualified to the Class 1 State Track and Field Championships, which will be held at Lincoln University in Jefferson City on May 18 and 19.
