Cassville High School golfing sensation Evan White advanced to his third consecutive state tournament shooting an eight-over-par 80 at Briar Brook in Carl Junction last Wednesday in the Class 3 sectional.
"It feels great to know I am going back to the state tournament," said White. "I didn't play my best round of the year. I just made the best with what I had to work with."
Logan-Rogersville won the team event recording a 334. Bolivar finished second with a 347. Monett took third finishing with a 334, and Nevada was fourth carding a 375.
"My goal is to go to state and put together a score that will earn All-State honors," said White. "I will try to rely on all my past experiences."
Only the top two teams and the top 12 individuals from the four sectionals advance to the state tournament at River Cut Golf Course in Springfield May 14 and 15.
"Qualifying for the state tournament three times is a big deal," said Cassville coach Lance Parnell. "Evan has worked really hard and is now being rewarded for his efforts. I think the key for Evan at state is that he plays his game and enjoys the experience."
The Wildcats sent two golfers to the sectional round. White's teammate Parker Skinner finished with an 89.
